Prevention
There is a daily medication called PrEP (means Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis), and it’s the use of anti-HIV medications to keep HIV negative people from becoming infected. PrEP is approved by the FDA and has been shown to be safe and effective at preventing HIV infection. More information on http://www.whatisprep.org.
Cost: Gilead (the company that makes two of the drugs currently approved by the FDA drugs for PrEP) has a Medication Assistance Program for PrEP. You can apply for this program to see if you can get PrEP at no cost, based on your income. For more information call (877) 505-6986.
